Before diving into details about tomorrow’s meet- a few reminders for the whole team.

From Coach Caroline:

Friendly reminder that now that the school year has ended, evening practices are available for all swimmers on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 5:15–6:15 PM. This is a shift from the school year evening practice times. We’ll also continue our Friday evening pep rallies immediately following practice. We hope to see lots of swimmers there!

From Ellen Wellen, A Rep:

If you haven’t done so already, please declare your swimmers for Saturday’s A meet and Sunday’s Relay Carnival. Your timely and accurate declarations make organizing the meet entries much smoother. The deadline to declare for both events is WEDNESDAY 6/24 by 8pm. We still need volunteers to help with bulkhead set up on Friday night, timers, stroke and turn, and hospitality on Saturday- sign up and join the fun!

Meet Information: Calverton vs. Long Branch

The Water Wizards are looking forward to hosting the Chargers at Long Branch on Wednesday, 6/24 for this week's B meet. Our pool is located at 8700 Piney Branch Road, Silver Spring, MD 20901. We’ll continue our spirit theme from Saturday’s meet of Wild West. We will meet out front of Long Branch Pool and walk in as a team at 5pm.

Swimmers should arrive at 5 pm and check in with Coach. Please review with your swimmer which events they are entered to help prepare them for the meet.

Volunteers: We are still looking for one Stroke and Turn judge and an assistant clerk of course.

5:00-5:20: Water Wizards Warmups

5:20-5:40: Chargers Warmups

5:30: Officials Briefing

5:40: Timer Briefing

5:55: National Anthem

6:00: Meet begins

Parking: Parking is available in the pool lot in any space not bearing a restricted designation (pool staff, handicap, fire lane, no parking etc.). Please do not park in a restricted spot or in the circle outside the community center because they may be towed if they do so. Purple Line construction is still in process and will cause traffic. It is recommended that visiting teams approach the pool from the intersection of University Blvd and Piney Branch Rd as it is then a straightforward, uncomplicated right turn into the pool lot. Note that the entrance to the pool parking lot has moved and is 50 ft closer to University Blvd.

The pool parking lot is large and should be sufficient for both of teams, but if anyone cannot find a spot in the pool log, additional parking is available in the Long Branch Library lot off Garland Avenue (accessed via Plymouth or Arliss St on Flower Ave as indicated in the attached map), as well as in the neighborhood behind the library along Wayne and Garland Aves. There is a path with a footbridge connecting the library with the pool (#4 in the attached image). It takes just a few minutes to walk between the two.

Team Area: The Chargers team area is located at the far end of the pool behind the heat chairs. This area is the large grassy area straight back when you walk in, closest to the Long Branch Community Center and library footpath. There will be some chairs available for our team, but it is recommended our team bring additional chairs as well as canopies if it is sunny as there is not much in the way of shade at the pool. The area is quite large so you should have ample room to spread out and put up several tents if you wish.

Concessions: Long Branch will have an assortment of prepared concessions available on Wednesday, including pizza, all-beef hot dogs, chips, candy, ice cold popsicles, and cold water/gatorade/soda. Concessions accepts cash, PayPal, and Zelle.
